Outstandingly helpful and well-trained staff, and good food!!!
Top-class room with stunning views of the ocean and Isola Tavolara. Quiet and unbeatable location into the hillside leading to pretty private beach, and 40 min walking distance to Porto Taverna. Also - just next door to northern Sardinia, a mountainous island in the Med surrounded by a mesmerizing turquoise and topaz sea and local attractions.

Poolside Dining
We had the most amazing dining experience at the large veranda overlooking the sea. The delicacies served were so exquisite that they transported me to food heaven. The combination of flavors was like a symphony for my taste buds. It was like being in paradise, but with a full stomach!
We were unfortunate to have noisy neighbors in the room above us. Their constant walking around created a disturbance and affected the tranquility of our stay.

It is not a big crowded hotel but a small charming hotel-boutique, with villas spread throughout the hill. We loved everything. Hospitality of staff, nice rooms (very cosy and romantic), nice reception area with free wi-fi, great restaurant. I would say it's more a 5* then a 4* hotel. The hotel is good for couples, couples with babies and families. A village of San Teodoro is in 10 min drive, it has restaurants, touristic shops, night promenade etc. There are a lot of beautiful beaches in this area, the most beautiful is Istana and Coda Cavalo.
The hotel's beach is quite small as it's situated between the rocks, of corse you can swim there, but the best beaches, big and with limpide blue water are just 10 min drive (all are public beaches).

We had a great time at Hotel Don Diego in Sardinia. The hotel is conveniently located, just a short drive from the airport and nearby towns. The beach access and pool were fantastic, and we enjoyed spending a day just relaxing on the hotel grounds. The staff was incredibly accommodating, especially when it came to our 2-month-old daughter. They provided a cot for her and made us feel very welcome. The hotel grounds are beautiful, with stunning flowers and lovely views from the dining areas. The food at the hotel restaurant was delicious, and we especially enjoyed dining with a view of the ocean. The spacious rooms and excellent water pressure in the bathrooms were also a plus. The fitness center had a good selection of machines, and it was never crowded. we had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend Hotel Don Diego.

Hotel Don Diego is located in a beautiful spot on the coast of Sardinia. The view is spectacular! Hotel staff give you all their time and attention, they were so helpful to me and my family. The beach is quiet, it has some activities, its not so big, but there are plenty of other beaches nearby. Also the food at the restaraunt was really good.
Biggest complaint is the incredibly thin walls which makes a big problem when your trying to sleep and the neighbors next door or upstairs are walking or just even moving a chair around, you can hear it all! Another small problem, only for those with bad knees or any accessability problems, there are steps to everything, slopes also, so that may be uncomfortable for some people.

The place was fabulous but remote so advisable to hire a car if staying longer than a few days as taxis are expensive. Quoted 40 euro each way to/from Olbia airport. Total chill out place. The beach is a stone's throw away and paradise. The hotel overlooks a turquoise bay and the famous islands, beautiful. The views are breathtaking from the restaurant and poolside. The staff are very amenable, friendly and service was excellent. Will be back.
Same beach towel for the whole stay. No pizzas or pizza delivery!

The location was idyllic and perfect for a restful holiday. The pool and lunch menu were great and easy access to the beach was very convenient. The rooms were clean and well-appointed with great air conditioning.
The hotel was a bit isolated, and there could have been a more regular car or minibus service to the nearby towns. the air conditioning in the room was not powerful enough to cool the room down adequately, and there were quite a few mosquitoes in the room which were a bit of a nuisance.

Very unusual accomodation in individual houses with about 6 apartments in each house set in delightful gardens with great swimming pool and tennis court and good water sports.
Sardinia generally was unbelievably expensive and this hotel was no exception: they had the gall to charge £2.50 for a tea bag for morning tea (note no milk!) and a similar sum for a towel for use by the pool with the same sum being charged if you want to replace the towel. Dinner is 37 euros without drinks - bear in mind the average bottle of wine was nearly 30 euros. They spoilt the hotel by these niggly unnecessary charges
